After years of hard work behind the scenes, applying for grants and overseeing the works for our layouts and facilities upgrading to be more user friendly for para athletes & visitors, all that hard work and foresight came to fruition on Saturday 28th of May when Melbourne Gun Club hosted its first “Para Athlete Come & Try”.
The day was a great success with 6 attendees registering for the event. Most had never shot a firearm before let alone hit a clay target. Aided by organiser Judith Kent with the help of Louise & Matt Tingate and MGC members, all who attended had an enjoyable day and all managed to break a few targets and have a better understanding of how inclusive the sport of Clay Target Shooting is.
Melbourne Gun Club plan to host Para events on a regular basis and we look forward to welcoming more Para Athletes to our great sport. Melbourne Gun Club thanks Judith Kent for all her hard work organising behind the scene and her support to Para Shooting at MGC.
